Thank you so much to everyone who rallied to save our poor oldie Maximus, who was being badly picked on in his pen.
We weren't sure how much longer he could last - he was standing in the middle of the kennel crying, and every time he sat down he was pounced on by the other dogs. It was just a matter of time before something terrible happened.
Thankfully our amazing supporters sponsored his transport costs and Maximus - now called Hector - has an incredible new home with fellow Romanian rescue, Humphrey.
"I feel in love with Hector the first time I saw him on FB," said adopter, Dee.
"I kept checking the posts about him, looking at the pictures and something told me this was the dog for me. I was hesitant, as I already have a Romanian rescue that has been with me for a year.
"Whilst mulling over whether to apply or not, I decided that if I saw another post about him it was meant to be. Five mins later I opened Facebook and the most heartbreaking post about him was top of my feed. Needless to say I applied very quickly!
The team at PPTF were amazing - they turned the application around very quickly and had him ready for travel in less than a week. He arrived with us at a very civilised 11am on a Saturday morning. His confidence was amazing - he strolled in, did a tour of the downstairs, had a visit to the garden and fell asleep in his crate!
He has loved cuddles and ear scritches from the get go. He gives a great cuddle, he really leans in and gives as much as he gets. He is nervous of visitors and uses his amazingly loud and deep woof to let them know. However two treats later and he is a happy boy.
He adores his walks. He pulls the door open by hooking his paw behind and pulling - for an old boy he can move pretty fast! He's learning to play with his little brother Humphrey, and the happiness and excitement on his face during those times melts my heart.
He is an amazing and gentle soul. I so very grateful to be able to say he his mine and that finally he can sleep without worrying and play without a care in the world."
What an amazing happy ending! Thank you so much for giving Hector his wonderful new home.
