Nico can be protective of his home which can cause him to be reactive to visitors. He can also sometimes nip if he is feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Once Nico is settled and feeling comfortable he has a heart of gold, he is very good orientated which helps with training and he loves to have his belly rubbed by his favourite people.
Nico has accepted a collar, harness and lead. He is generally good having his lead put on however he can sometimes resist, he can have mixed days on his lead. Some days he can be good and won't pull however other times he can pull so he will need a strong owner who can handle his size. He is nervous on his walks especially around other dogs or people. He can sometimes lie down in submission when other dogs are around or other times he can lunge and bark at them. He is generally okay with people but can sometimes lunge and bark on occasions at them too. Nico will need a home in a quieter area so he can enjoy his walks in peace without feeling stressed or overwhelmed.
Nico currently lives with children 12+ who he is generally good with however he has nipped on occasions when he is feeling anxious. Nico would therefore prefer a child free home or with confident, dog savvy children 14+
Nico can have mixed reactions around other dogs, he has previously had good interactions and he seemed to gain confidence however this has regressed recently, he can share his home with another dog after a successful meet.
Nico does show a prey drive on walks so he will need a cat free home.
Nico is toilet trained but he is not crate trained. He has been destructive on occasions including biting furniture and door frames and scratching and digging at carpets. Nico suffers with separation anxiety which causes him to become very stressed when left alone, he currently cannot be left alone for any length of time, he would therefore need a home with someone who is home to keep him company and slowly build on this alone time. He sleeps well overnight. He struggles with travelling in the car and can only handle short trips.
