Our first spay day in Curtea de Arges took place on March 23 and it was a huge success - the team recorded a grand total of 72 animals - 22 dogs and 50 cats (they had a few latecomers after they took the photo!)
"The teams were amazing - very professional and very quick," said shelter manager Tony.
"Our guys were also fabulous - we divided into teams, a spay team and a shelter team and they worked really well together. No stress for our dogs and no stress for visitors."
Our team worked in partnership with Romanian charity Aulim Smeura to enable local residents to bring their animals to the shelter to be spayed free of charge.
Every animal was given a health check, treated for any infections or skin complaints, and dogs were registered with a health book and microchip.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to our spay campaign so far - spaying and neutering is the only way to tackle the root cause of the stray issue in Romania, which causes so much suffering and shelter overcrowding.
A special mention to 1bike1world for their extremely generous donation, which enabled the campaign to go ahead.
We will be holding another spay day on April 19th and are still collecting donations if you would like to contribute. Any additional funds we raise will go to Aulim Smeura to continue their valuable spay campaign work in Romania.
Fantastic team effort. Congratulations to you all . Thank you for all you do for the animals.
